I have no new projects finished and I forgot to take pictures of the table runners. Oh well . . . I have finally finished knitting the pieces to Glenn's sweater (the one I started in 2000) so now I just have to figure out how to put it together. I figure if I have too much trouble Miss Beth will come to my rescue. The yarn is just as yummy as when I bought it.

But speaking of felting, since I'm having trouble getting into creative quilting mode, I bought yarn to make a specialized, felted, custom bag for storing my Denise needles. This special bag will help me not lose the second set of needles. It's the "Carry Bag for your Denise Kit, courtesy of Cat Bordhi." You can download the pattern for free from Cat's site http://www.catbordhi.com/free_patterns.html. I'm making mine out of Marine.

  1. Huzzah to you for finishing all the components for Glenn's sweater! Seems really amazing since I can't seem to get up the gumption to finish knitting a test sample for the coat I determined to make last summer! Many dollars worth of fancy Japanese yarn are staring holes in my back.

  2. Hey Seamsters!

I had a lot of fun at the felting class, but have to say, it was a lot of work. The main "felting" I've done is throwing wool items into the washing machine and washing and drying on hot. Most come out suitable for quilting. I'm working on a great wool quilt right now, and have collected enough wool items for several. I had planned to sell them 100% for the church at whatever sale/auction we have, but I've just learned that one of my oldest and dearest friends, Elizabeth, has a serious neck injury and lousy insurance. No chiro/massage/phys therapy coverage and long-term terrible pain. So I've decided to donatw a percentage to the church and the rest to help her cover medical bills. Thus, I am doubly encouraged to produce saleable quilts. E is one of the nicest people I know, but life clobbers her at every turn. I have tried to help out off and on half our lives, but my ability to help now is limited due to my own disability. Anyway, I do the best I can. She's my own personal charity.

One of these days, when Wes has time to help I'll post a pic of the first quilt so far.

I'm also remaking a beautiful size 12 green wool coat into a larger and more interesting jacket for myself and as a project for the Wearable Art class I'm taking from Lorraine Torrence with our own Kathy Bean. (I'll wear the jacket to church and Seamsters when it's finished) I'm learning a lot, but I seem to be the only newbie among a roomful of LT groupies. I try to keep up, and pick up what I can. It's great to have Kathy around for support. Thanks, Kathy.
